Dear
Yonge Street readers,
Change is afoot.
It is with tremendous excitement that I introduce myself as
Yonge Street's new Managing Editor. Taking over the role from Sheena Lyonnais is no small task, and I look forward to continuing in her footsteps by providing you with more of the positive stories about Toronto's leaders, thinkers and city-builders that you've come to expect from
Yonge Street.
I would also like to introduce Igor Bonifacic and Paul Gallant, who are taking over from Hamutal Dotan and Katia Snukal (respectively) as our new editors of Innovation and Job News and Civic Impact. Igor is the editor of
Toronto Standard and a longtime
Yonge Street contributor; Paul is a former Managing Editor of this publication.
Founding editor Shawn Micallef called Yonge Street-- the thoroughfare that is this publication's namesake--the spine of our great city. It is certainly that. Both a central geographic reference point and a neural pathway that bridges neighbourhoods, commercial spaces, parks and schools, the street supplies life to the city's gangly adolescent limbs. As a publication, we strive to mirror that spirit by showcasing the diversity, entrepreneurialism, sustainability and development that make Toronto
one of the best cities in the world to live in--and, one of the most exciting cities in which to make things happen.
