Yonge Street's videographer
Rose Bianchini went to Parkdale to see what
Greenest City is up to in that neigbourhood. Working in urban argriculture, "Greenest City is an award-winning charitable organization that grows
local organic food, youth leaders and healthy, sustainable communities
with a focus on Toronto's Parkdale-High Park neighbourhood."
Rose chatted with Greenest City's executive director Carolyn Scotchmer about what they do, and also with one of the newest members of their board of directors, Hyun Rioux. Rioux was appointed via
DiverseCity onBoard, a program that is helping organizations appoint qualified and skilled folks to their boards
while reflecting Toronto's diversity at the same time. In a region where 49.5% of the residents are visibile minorities, only 13% of our leaders are from this demographic. Rioux, an Account Executive in the telecommunications industry by day, is also a visual artist and avid gardener, and brings those skills to Greenest City.
